This is a good casual neighborhood sushi spot and a reliable place for takeout/delivery. I've had the salmon avocado, yellowtail scallion, eel avocado and spicy tuna many times and they are consistently fresh and high quality. The yellowtail scallion is particularly good, better than at some of the other sushi restaurants on the UES. Service here is great as well. The only downside is that the ambience inside the restaurant is a little bland, which is why I prefer this place for either takeout or a quick lunch.
Tasty fresh takeout reasonable prices decent quality. We ordered a variety of items, including rolls and chirashi. No complaints. The order was ready quickly and the pickup was similarly effortless.
You seriously couldn't ask for more from a low key sushi spot like this. Perfect for a single diner. Absolutely delicious, fresh and affordable for crazy UES norms.
One of the best sushi restaurants in all of Manhattan. Feels like your back in the suburbs when you go here - friendly staff and incredibly fresh rolls. I travel 30 minutes just to come here.
A solid lunch special: miso soup OR salad and 3 sushi rolls for $14.50. I got salad, salmon avocado, shrimp tempura, and spicy tuna rolls. The salmon avocado was my favorite! The spicy tuna was my second favorite. Next time I wouldn't get the shrimp tempura roll, it wasn't my favorite. Service was good and they were busy for a Friday during lunch. There was only 1 waitress and she was working hard! There's a single stall bathroom in the back.
I went to Amura this weekend to take advantage of their reasonably priced omakase (only $35!!). They brought gluten free soy sauce to my table and the service was excellent. I'd never been to omakase before and this wasn't quite what I was expecting as the food is served all at one time and on one plate, but my worries were washed away as soon as I had my first bite! The sushi was super good and the quality of the fish was fantastic. Overall I'd recommend it and would go back again!
Wow! I love it here! There are so many Sushi places in the neighborhood, and I finally came to this one- and boy, was I surprised as to how good it is! I was seated and given a menu, I order a cold beer and hot Saké, I perused the menu and order Edamame, some Nigiri Sushi, and 3 rolls. Everything was fresh, well-made, and had substantial portions! The service was attentive without being overbearing. It was a busy Thursday night, but not too loud. I will DEFINITELY be back here next time I am in the City!
Solid Japanese restaurant on the upper east side with a good selection of fresh fish and excellent lunch menu (even on the weekends!). We ordered for starters the sushi omakase (an assortment of 6 different fish) and a roll. This was ok, there was no explanation of the type of fish, it wasn't anything special to be called omakase. We also ordered the romantic roll, which was good. The fish was fresh, however I would've opted to get different starters. For our mains, we ordered from the lunch menu. Got the beef negimaki bento box, which was good! The bento box comes with soup, salad, shumai and 4 pieces of small California roll. Pretty good deal for lunch prices! In the beef negimaki, this was scallions wrapped with a thin slice of beef, served hot! Also ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box, also decent. However I found the sauce to be very thick. Also ordered the tempura box, with two pieces of shrimp and veggies. Dish was good if you like fried food. And the 3 rolls: yellowtail scallion, eel avocado and shrimp tempera. What I like about the rolls is that there is not a lot of rice!! Amura gives you a small portion of rice on the sushi. Overall, decent neighborhood sushi spot for a casual meal. Lunch menu is excellent due to options and price point.
